KENYA IN CRISIS
President Kibaki has invited Hon. Odinga of the majority party, ODM to a meeting. The aim of the meeting, to be madiated by President Kuffuor of Ghana and current Chairman of AU, is to find away forward out of the choas and mistrust among Kenyan ethnicities that have been been precipitated by a botched and rigged vote-tallying by the Election Commission of Kenya (aka ECK). Kibaki was declared the winner in the recent election the world believes to have been won by Hon. Odinga.
President Kibaki hopes that Raila and ODM blink and accept to be part of a ruling coalition, or that ODM goes to court where its complaints will not be settled in the lefetime of the new parliament.
ODM will be demanding a re-run of the Presidential Vote; they may also demand an immediate creation of an excutive Prime Minister's post (for Hon. Odinga or any ODM-nominated man or woman). But this would require a constitutional amendment. Neither of these demands will be acceptable to President Kibaki, who knows how sweet the throne is, leave alone the business community who have this phobia about Hon. Odinga's predictable anti-corruption, clean-government stance.
The stalemate has a assumed a 2012 dimension. ODM must watch its steps and keep its eyes on the ball. The public who gave ODM both parliamentary majority and the Presidency (of which it has been robbed) is not dreaming of anything less than an Odinga triumph. This time is Odinga's; 2012 will be Mudavadi's or Ruto's. Luo support for either Ruto or Mudavadi in 2012 demands that the members of the ODM Pentagon must remain united in purpose. To remain politically relevant, ODM must shepherd their elected members in the House to ward off any poaching by Kibaki's PNU.
Kenyans are in for a rough ride because the protagonists have an unhealthy level of mistrust. President Moi is unusually quiet; Hon. Kalonzo of ODM-K is compromised by Presisdent Kibaki; old names in Kenyan poilitics were floored by ODM's pro-change train. The Church had thrown its support behind one candidate before the elections. Who will save Kenya? Maybe members the international community who have refused to recognize Kibaki's win. But for a man who can burry his head in the sand and who beleives that the end justifies the means, global isolation will mean little; and nothiong will stop him.

THE KENYAN REFUGEE
Fellow Kenyans at Home and in the Diaspora,
1. Does it occur to you that by announcing a fumbled electoral tally in favor of the incumbent (President Mwai Kibake) the Chairman of The Electoral Commission of Kenyan (Mr. Kivuitu) has made some of you refugees either at Home (As Internally Displaced Person), in a neighboring country (like those who have fled to Uganda and Tanzania) and in the Diaspora (because they have no home to return to) ?
2. Do you see the sense to work extra hard to avoid this getting worse than it already is to about 500, 000 Kenyans?
3. What can you do to reverse the chaos that threaten to make Kenya another Failed State?
4. What can you do to help those displaced?
5. Do you know that SILENCE does not help in this situation?
6. Do you understand that careless talk in the blogs and chatrooms can worsen the situation?

The Milayi Curse

POLITICAL UNCERTAINTY IN KENYA
FANS,
You want to join other Kenyans and friends of Kenyan in mourning the victims of the current political stalemate in Kenya which followed the bungled vote count after the Kenya 2007 Election. We should all pray for Divine intervention in the hearts of our politicians.
The immediate change of the Constitution (as a first Item in the New Perliamentary Business) and the creation of a Prime Minister's Post for Hon. Raila Odinga (or anybody else acceptable to ODM--the party with a parliamentary majority) may help difuse the current stalemate. This proposal may be unpleasant to some politicians, but it would help disperse power to the agrieved (Hon. Odinga and ODM) and ease pressure on the Nation which remains ours and requires urgent healing.
Of immediate importance is an end to the bloodletting in Kenya, a return to political sanity among politicians, and the creation of the "Judicial Review" proposed by Commissioner Tumwa and his co-commissioners to sort out what happened during vote-tallying at KICC, and offer remedial action to agrieved parties; if some ECK members and Staff must go to jail over the bungled electoral process, so be it.

New Political Posturings

Aren't things hot in the Kenyan Presidential race. Mzee Matiba (Ford Asili) is in the race. How will this affect the Kibaki effort? I say, a lot. Muran'ga is not at peace for all the reasons you know; coffee farming is not doing well and so is the general economy.
The last I checked NationTV Hon. Odinga and his ODM Pentagon had a Mr. Dick Morris by their side. Now, that is interesting. Dick Morris is an an American Political Wizz credited with having guided President Clinton to two consecutive terms. Since then he became , a mong other things, a Republican political pundit; but once a democrat always a Clinton.
To a Kenyan like me, such credentials could have meant nothing until a few years back: Political Opinion-Polling is with us, and so is everything expected in an open democratic space, including interprating Opinion Polls. Steadman's Wolf runs biweekly polls to which a lot of Kenyans have either heaped praise or anger depending on whether their candidate is on top or not. There are other polls out there too being run by The Sunday Nation. A wise man (like Hon. Odinga) needs a Wizzie like Dick Morris to help him separate real sociopolitical trends from human errors and inexplicable euphoria in poll-taking. I told you that ODMhad hired a lot of psychologists to handle candidates who lose in the party parliamentary nominations. That how a professional political party operates. Mr. Morris is a psychologist, but with a higher mandate, which is to offer round the clock to the ODM Pentagon. I hope he will not attempt to advise Agwambo (aka Arap Mibei, Jamba, Nabongo) to tone down on his rich football imagery.
That is how I see it.
PNU pundits cannot embrace Steadman Polls and question why Hon. Odinga needs Mr. Dick Morris, nor scoff at his Americanness. The times have changed, and the kind of political Wizzardry, which a lot of our politicians have embraced during these trying times, and which I talk about in the novel, The Wise One of Ramogiland, is not enough to see any politician to either state House or Parliament. If PNU has not hired a Morris (local or international) they should look for one.
